PHYSIOTHERAPY
WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY?
Physiotherapy is a clinical and evidence based approach, assisting those affected by injury or disease, which may cause problems with mobility, pain and an overall reduced quality of life. It also assists with the prevention of various conditions, due to predisposing factors i.e. sitting at a desk for a full day of work, or being exposed to heavy lifting.
HOW IT WORKS
Physiotherapists use a range of therapeutic modalities, which promote the body’s natural healing mechanisms to carry out their necessary physiological processes, for restoring health, in any affected area. These naturally occurring physiological processes, are capable of reducing pain levels, regenerating bony and soft tissues, reprogramming dormant neural pathways, creating new neural pathways and restoring movement, all without the use of medication and/or surgery. The healing mechanisms of the body are driven by the energy available to it. Emotional stress, anxiety and fear, tension in the body, faulty alignment in overall posture, misuse of the muscular system through too much or too little of a particular activity, all deplete the body of its available energy, in order to survive these conditions. By working through these blocks, which act as a resistance to healing, the body’s energy can now be focused on the areas, in need.
HOW IS IT DONE?
At Central Balance each client attending for Physiotherapy, is offered the exclusive attention of their therapist, throughout each treatment session. Sessions last 1 hr.
Once an Initial Assessment has taken place, the therapist will go through the process of setting Physiotherapy goals, in agreement the client, any involved care givers and/or family members, as well as the main health care practitioner involved i.e. doctor, surgeon etc.
The treatment plan will develop and progress according to the ongoing evaluation of observed changes in pain levels, mobility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, overall health and general function. These changes are measured objectively using specialized outcome measures and recorded systematically. This allows the client as well as their involved health care practitioners to monitor the development of their condition clearly.
